Louisa Bowen has been with Valley Ridge Farm since she started taking riding lessons in 2000. Her dedication and hard work ethic granted her the opportunity to become Head Working Student, and eventually a skilled instructor. As a senior college student at WVU, she has gained experience with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association and is now the Assistant Coach of Valley Ridge Farm's IEA team, The Ridge Riders.
The knowledge that she has acquired through years of riding many horses has given her a sound understanding of how a horse behaves, and applies that to her lesson clients. Louisa believes the most effective and enjoyable ride is accomplished when both the horse and the rider can communicate and understand each other. Proper horsemanship solid equitation, and horse/rider comprehension are the underlying principles in which Louisa bases her instruction. While her main focus is on more advanced students, she enjoys working with beginners and intermediates alike.
